Work Experience:

Apr 2010-Present: Industrial designer at f/p design (Munich)

Details: Design, CAD and prototyping for several projects involving large German and international clients.

July – Sep 2008: Design Engineer at Core Product Design (Glasgow)

Details: Involvement in a number of projects, including a case designed for their latest Studio Mill CNC machine, a robotic palletiser, an innovative self closing door hinge and graphic design.

July 2006: Customer Contact Association

Details: Trophy design for the for their annual awards.

Sep 2006: Hisøy school Norway

Details: Involved in teaching design and creative thinking techniques to 10-14 year olds, in addition to making redesign suggestions for the school during its rebuilding phase.

2003-2004: Safeway

Details: Worked in the electrical department advising on equipment such as televisions & DVD players, This entailed a high level of customer interaction.


Work Experience through University:

2008-2009: Project with CorePD, Development of a mobile, compact, CNC Plasma cutter (Final Year project)

Jan – May 2008: A Packaging project with Buran AS, a start up Norwegian whisky producer.

Jan – May 2008: Project with SINTEF, a Norwegian marine research organisation.  Concepts were explored for a fish farm service vessel which focused on the crew’s experience of working at sea

Sep – Dec 2007: Project with Jordan, the leading manufacturer of oral care products in Scandinavia. I was involved in a team seeking to increase the perceived value of oral care through design and marketing strategies.



Feb- Apr 2010: DeutschAkademie, Munich

Details: An intensive eight week German course.

Aug 2009: Sprachenatelier, Berlin

Details: An intensive four week German course consisting of 20 hours of classes per week.

2004-2009: University of Glasgow / Glasgow School of Art

Degree: 1st class Master of Engineering in Product Design Engineering.

Details: This is an innovative honours degree program that is accredited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. It was inaugurated in 1987 and is run jointly between the Glasgow School of Art’s, School of Design and the University of Glasgow’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.  It has a track record of producing young design engineers with multi-disciplinary, transferable skills.

2007-2008: Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Trondheim)

Details: This was a fully recognised part of the degree and took place at the foremost technical institution in Scandinavia. It provided an excellent  opportunity to work in a new and exciting environment.
